How it Works
• Growing Chefs’ Classroom Gardening and Cooking Program will run September-June for the 24/25 school year.
• Growing Chefs’ Classroom Gardening and Cooking Program consists of four lessons, each focusing on themes related to gardening, cooking, and sharing food.
• Classroom visits typically occur on the same weekday (based on your classroom's schedule).
• A team of Growing Chefs staff and community volunteers is paired with your class to deliver our hands-on gardening and cooking curriculum.
• Growing Chefs comes to your classroom with all of the materials, tools, and ingredients needed for our lessons. All you need to do is make some space on your windowsill for our gardens and we'll bring the rest.
• Before starting the program, you will receive a Teacher’s Kit that outlines the program and provides you with additional extension and integration activities to deepen your students' learning.
• There is a $500 program fee to deliver the program to your classroom that helps us cover the cost of equipment and food. But don't fret - no school is ever turned away for lack of funds! If you require a subsidy please let us know.
• Applications for the 24/25 school year are now open. Please note, applications will be reviewed in the summer of 2024, but are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis and are dependent on our teams' capacity.
